The leader of UCA Chechen Republic

(apparently, I'm not sure how this works, but if anyone lives in the Utah-area, they have this group called the Utah County Airsoft that does simulations of combat situations. Sounds like fun, but I can't figure out whether Chechen-Americans are in this thing as well. I don't really know what it is! Anyways, here is their website - maybe someone can explain it to me?)

September 21, 1951 – March 8, 2005

Aslan Maskhadov was the leader of the Chechen struggle for independence and was the most significant contributor to victory in the First Chechen War. He became President of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (Нохчийн Республика Нохчийчоь) in January 1997. At the start of the Second Chechen War in 1999 he returned to commanding Chechen troops in resistance to Russian invasion. The Russian government has refused his family's request to return his body to them. His grave is unmarked.

In this picture Maskhadov is holding a wolf pup presented to him by the leadership of Georgia. The wolf is a major symbol of the Chechen people, as is Maskhadov. The Chechen flag contains an emblem with a wolf in the center. Here, the center of the emblem is replaced with Maskhadov holding the wolf instead.
