During the hospitalisation in Ingushetia he has fallen in love with the doctor, they’ve married soon and were trying hard to live a normal life with the daughter of 3 years and the son of 2 years. The Russian force were coming to his place weekly interrogating and threatening . They have decided to leave for a safer place. Poland welcomed them. ![]() Four women who’ve just arrived two weeks ago from Chechnya, at the URiC refugee Centre in Poland. They were intruded several times by the cowled soldiers of the Russian Force. I decided to leave after they raided violently the house again five weeks ago. A former Chechen guerilla fighter, she spends her free time working with handicapped children in equestrian therapy sessions. ![]() Chechens. 23-year old today, Ali became a freedom fighter in 1999, carrying clothing, sleeping bags, water and food across mine fields. After a year, he stepped on a mine with his brother. Ali lost his sight and his right arm. His brother did not survive. He received refugee status in June, along with his wife and daughter. He was accompanied to Poland by his mother, sister, son-in-law and two brothers. They are collecting money for Ali’s convalescence. ![]() (I thought this one was particularly sad...) Malik. Chechnya. In a 24-hour kindergarten he is waiting for his mother, who had to be operated on in hospital. Her partner is alone in their flat. Her husband was taken in a regional round-up in 2001. Her father was killed in their home in Grozny, and her brother was found dead by the roadside. She fled to neighbouring Ingushetia, where Malik was born. His mother obtained refugee status three months ago. She is now looking for work. ![]() Chechens. Dancers in a folk group founded at the Bialystok reception centre. 18-year old Zaira is staying in Poland with a distant relative. 14 year-old Wahid arrived here with his mother.
