I have two Zalpa's books and one of her father's. Both of them are in Russian. I can make copies of them and send them over to you or if you want originals, Zalpa probably has them. Her e-mail is zalpa@mail.ru

I meant English translation, since I know English and some Chechen (in latin letters; though I can't read the cyrillic alphabet).

I get the articles translated from Russian to English. Just go to Google, click on the "Language Tools" link on the right side of the page, go to Translate, then "Translate a Web Page". After that I just copy a URL of a Russian site and paste it on there and i switch it over to English. Hope that explains it))

As for the book, I wouldn't wanna make her ship it all the way from Russia or something( How much does it cost? If you have an extra copy, like in English or Chechen (I'd get a friend to read it to me =D), I'd consider it. Otherwise, it's fine))

btw almost all of the information for Liza Umarova was in English anyways, so that was a much easier wikipedia article (she likes my wiki article and she emailed me back! )) )

I knew of this project from American Friends Service Committe in San Francisco. Most of the time they are the ones who sponsor my events on Chechnya. I saw a book with the same title at their office - they were very proud of it. I don't remember the text but at the time I thought it was a joke.

Probably they have them in different versions with the same title, because the one Zalpa wrote is quite impressive. I didn't know she was engaged in this project.

i'm not supposed to say this lol, and i really shouldn't in case this doesn't work out, but i'm going to contact Li Moore, the Translation Coordinator at Google in Palo Alto, next week to discuss Google in the Chechen language. What this'll mean is that anybody that wants can use Google but the Google interface will be in the Chechen language.

Look at this, and scroll down a little bit on the page. Notice how they have a bunch of languages on there? I'm going to see if I can get Chechen up soon.

No promises that I'll actually get permission from Google to do this, but we will see)) I thought it would be really cool if every Chechen could use Google in their native language.
