| Chechen Hats, Please Help Dear Brothers and Sisters, This is a much needed request and I truly hope you can help me. I live in England, the United Kingdom and I would like to get a hat exactly like this one, same colours and size. I believe that they are about 5-6 inches high and I love the colour. Below is the exact hat. ![]() What is the name of these specific hats? Name in Chechen and in English transliteration? They are similar to the Ushanka, the "Gorbachev Style" and the "Gogol Style" but are not the hats I am after. Their are some hats from Russia and Chechnya that are similar but not the same. I am after one exactly the same as the picture above and I believe they are quite popular, especially this kind. When I saw a documentary on Chechnya a lot of people were wearing exactly the same ones! When I do a search on the internet for one it seems to come under a "Cuban Cossack Style" hat. An image of one of these is HERE. I believe that "such hats have been worn throughout the centuries by Russian Cossacks living on the banks of the Cuban' River." but I am unsure. Can anyone help? I would like to know their name and where I can get one from? I am happy to order from Chechnys or Russia! You can get them from america here: http://www.ruscuisine.com/shopping/i...%20Fur%20Hats/ and here: http://www.russianlegacy.com/catalog...=32_45_274_147 But I am after one exactly like the picture above and preferrably from your country. I believe they come made from fur and is their also a fake fue one the same? Thank you every so much in advance. | |

| many chechen people call it just " nokhchi kui" we can translate it in eng. as: chechen hat. It is very old chechen tradition to wear it, even in summer. But they have nothing common with Russia or Ukrain hats | |

| You can buy (order) it in Checheniya. It's a part of our native clothes. As far as I know Russian cossacks wore the hats as they lived on Caucasus among people of here.. (Like I could wear Japanese dress if I lived in Japan). But May I ask u, are u gonna wear it there in Uk?

| Yes, Lebowski, ArabeLLa is right. The Cossacks are nobody but the fleed Russian serfs who were free in the Caucasus. So again, as Arabella said, they adopted the Caucasian style of clothing as many other things along, as cultural traditions. ArabeLLa, do you know if there are orders online? If he can just pay off by the credit card?

| Hello, You have all been so very helpful. Yes, I shall be wearing it in the UK! The background to them was very interesting.I see that they do not have their own name then? Just referred to as 'Nokhchi Kui' (Chechen Hat) or 'Suram kui' (Sheepskin Hat/Caracul Hat). Can I order one online anywhere from your country? | |
