Многие из этих программ специально нацелены на привлечение кандидатов из национальных меньшинств и регионов, где идут конфликты или есть социальные проблемы, таких, как Северный Кавказ. И это дает Вам больше шансов. Комиссия, ведущая процесс отбора кандидатов не дискриминирует их на почве национальной принадлежности, пола или религии. As always, CAN provides assistance with the application process to applicants from the North Caucasus . Program Description Each year, the International Guest Program at the International Center for Tolerance Education in New York welcomes human rights leaders, action researchers, health workers and educators primarily from developing countries. These guests come for a three-month residency to work on a project that focuses on how schools and other settings for children educate them to respect diversity and promote tolerance and social justice. ICTE provides its guests with professional mentorship, technical assistance, opportunities to work in schools and other youth settings. ICTE works together with New York universities such as Columbia University , international organizations such as Human Rights Watch and UN organizations as well as schools serving children with strong values related to tolerance education. Ideal candidates should be proven, self motivated professionals preferably from developing countries and countries in the transitional world who would like to accomplish a specific project, conduct action research in tolerance education, engage in networking, and further develop their skills to reflect on their practice. Eligible candidates must have strong speaking, comprehension and writing skills in English. Participants are selected on the basis of their previous work experience, commitment to tolerance education and the human rights/social change field, and proposed work goals for their stay at ICTE. For the 2008/2009 year, preference will be given to applicants working on tolerance, tolerance education and related issues. International Guests (IGs) will be paid for travel, given free housing accommodation in Brooklyn , New York , fully equipped office space at ICTE for 3 months as well as a weekly stipend to cover basic needs. This award offers individuals the following support: · Networking with individuals and organizations i.e., UN Agencies, NGOs, non-profits, foundations, government agencies, schools for children and academia working in the fields of human rights and tolerance education. Efforts are also made to connect IGs to partners in their respective regions; · Professional mentorship by ICTE staff; · Continuing education with universities in New York ; · Participation in conferences and trainings offered at ICTE and, where relevant, around the US and; · Opportunity to present work to ICTE community in the form of a workshop, presentation and/ or paper. To apply for this program, please prepare the following information and documents: · Personal information: name, coordinates, gender , languages (including native tongue) · Preferred time of your stay (between 6 weeks and 3 months) · Curriculum vitae · 2 letters of recommendation (incl. contact information) from people with good knowledge of your work (organizations you have worked with, professors, teachers, supervisors, etc.) · Responses to the following questions with a length of 1-2 paragraphs per response: 1. Background information about your work, including major achievements 2. What is the central problem you address in your work? 3. What are your main goals for your stay through the International Guest Program? 4. What are some of the concrete outcomes you hope to foster from your stay here and how would your organization or community benefit from this experience? 5. How would becoming a participant in the International Guest Program support your professional development and the work you do? · Please also let us know how you heard about the Program. If selected, candidates will be asked to submit a more detailed proposal of their intended plan of action during their stay with ICTE. The application submission deadline is Monday, January 21, 2008. Applicants may be asked to submit additional materials. Award notifications will be made by the end of March 2008.
