Чеченская Диаспора в Ираке

Хотелось бы узнать о них побольше. Тут статья была про них, и по телевизору вроде бы показывали. Я статью куда-то дела, не могу найти. Мне её профессор отпечатал когда рассказывал про них.

...The Iraqi Chechens are mainly descendants of the men of the Chechen brigade and their families who accompanied Midhat Pasha from Turkey and al-Jazera in Syria when he was appointed governor of Iraq c. 1869. There are two Chechen villages, one near Ba'quba to the north-east of Baghdad and Hamidiyya in the Haweeja District in Kirkuk. Some Chechens and Daghestanis live in Baghdad. One estimate puts the number of Iraqi Chechens at 15,000. According to Turkmen sources, by end of 2001 more than 20 Chechen families had been resettled near Kirkuk as part of the Iraqi regime's plan of 'deforming the demographic characteristics of the regions of Kurdistan*. Чеченцев в Ираке проживало мало. Перед войной и в ходе нее большинство уехали в Иорданию или в другие страны. Мы потомки поколения первой чеченской эмиграции после Кавказской войны. Мои отцы прибыли в Ирак через Турцию. Мы выходцы из Зандака.

Во времена Саддама практически все иракские чеченцы жили в Багдаде или других городах страны. В армии служили более 10 генералов из числа чеченцев и ингушей. Но к началу войны большинство из них вышли в отставку по возрасту. В Багдаде остались чеченцы, но их очень мало.
